The kit is placed in the microwave for 6-8 minutes; it uses ice to condense the steam/oil vapors created from the plant material. Each time you use your extractor you can yield up to 3.5 grams of oil depending on the plant material and 7-9 oz of hydrosol. One run uses 50-100 g (1/8-1/4 lbs) of plant material.
The EssenEx essential oil extractor is an apparatus that fits into your home microwave and allows you to extract your favorite scented oils. Using plants such as lavender, mint, and many others from the garden you can now make your own oils as simple as making popcorn. Consumers will be able to utilize wasted plant material from their garden and be able to have their favorite homemade scents all year round. This will also allow producers to sample their oils in small efficient batches instead of having to use large and costly equipment. This product was developed as a result of sustainable engineering research conducted at Oregon State University.

As someone who has literally spent 1000's purchasing essential oils over the past 4 years-i look forward to making my own pure esst. oils to use in my homemade beauty & health products.
